To the Lighthouse…

The location itself is wild and beautiful. Cabot Head Lighthouse

The lighthouse was built in 1896 and indeed there are some aspects of the natural setting that have remained unchanged over the years. Living on site was, in some respects, like stepping back into time. In other respects. many things and indeed changed. Most of the original forest around had been destroyed through logging; electricity, a road and running water had been come to the buildings and the Light was now automated and run on solar energy. The Bruce Peninsula itself was no longer an isolated outpost  but had gone through various waves of colonization and settlement, and was now the site of the Bruce Peninsula National Park.
